Occasionally we get questions about the Crossword Tournament puzzle along the lines of:


Both Zachary and Leona can’t have 26 Down correct.

The answer lies in the re-reading the story. If you missed the story when you first open the puzzle, tap Puzzle at the top of the page when you are in the puzzle to display it.  It says:

The top finishing contestants all performed admirably, but incredibly, each managed to get just one answer INCORRECT. 

I.e. it is correct that two contestants have incorrect answers in the clues, because they all do. So, the correct answers in the grid are not those each person got right, but the one they each got wrong. So the fact that Zachary for example, got both 18 and 26 correct is true.
